the process

When a person makes a choice that is not in alignment with their goals they are encouraged to look at their progress not their failures. This makes it easier to make a better decision not harder. A person who displays addictive behavior is far to vested in what other people think of him the whole codependency comes into play. The person feels out of control because he is depending on other people’s feelings to tell him about his experience. He cares too much about what other people think. In making a decision to be sober it has to be for himself not society or anyone else. Once he has made the decision for himself it is easier to help him get in the habit of making that decision again. I make suggestions about diet and exercise to keep the body in balance during the transition we help the client implement a better group of habits which support the lifestyle change.
This process is a gentle reminder of the direction the client has decided to go. This is not a boys club or a group shouting affirmations half heartedly that by the mere repetition binds them loosely together. This amounts to howling at the moon because you are afraid of the dark. The whole reward / punishment approach – tokens, cakes and being shunned or worse, patronized for failure amounts to aversion therapy which does not work. The patient becomes dependent on the shock, (electric shock therapy) or the group, to tell him he’s done something wrong. Our prisons teach people to be better prisoners or criminals not how to be better citizens. Help a person consciously make decisions in alignment with their goals you have taught a man to fish.

The daily reading discussing understanding and applying the principals of SCIENCE OF MIND, are the cornerstones of this process. Then I help a person consciously align their thoughts, words and deeds with their goals.

I also want to stress the importance of working with family members and/or codependents for the successful transition to sober living.

Suggested diet, exercise, supplements and therapies

Exercise

3 to 4 times a week aerobic and weight bearing exercises, tai chi and yoga.

Supplements

Valerian – Melatonin – Scullcap – Ginko Biloba – Gotu Kola – 5htp –
 St. John’s Wort

Good balancing herbs and supplements.

Experiment and find your own balance.

Diet

Clean diet geared toward vegetarian. Processed meats contain hormones, antibiotics and chemicals which keep body out of balance. Organics when possible. Stick closer to green vegetables which balance the acid alkaline state of the body. And a shot of wheat grass daily.

Light & Sound

I also advocate light and sound therapy which uses a machine that delivers tonal frequencies through earphones and light frequencies through eyeglasses. Per the inventor in Canada we are ultimately vibrating energy that becomes matter (Einstein) and the closer we can vibrate to our source the healthier we are mentally, physically, and spiritually. The inventor worked with engineers finding the proper frequency similar to the Hemi Sync system but with benefit of light sequencing which more closely imitates the meditation experience. The added benefit of releasing old thought patterns opens the door for positive life change. The machine actually teaches the brain to operate outside of it’s fixed patterns of thoughts, habits, beliefs. This allows a person to change behavior as all action originates in thought.

Meditation

Meditation is recommended daily. And as this is difficult at first the light and sound therapy enables a person to develop their personal meditation practice.

Accupuncture

Acupuncture is good for balancing the body’s energy and releasing blocks. Also treating addictive behavior patterns.
